Peridot, the birthstone of August babies, is a very old gemstone found in Egyptian and Roman jewelry from ancient times. It has three different names: peridot, chrysolite and precious olivine. The word peridot is derived from the Greek word peridona, which means, "to give richness". It's lovely rich green color, with a touch of gold comes from very fine traces of iron and the intensity of the color is dependant upon the amount of iron present within the stone. Peridot is one of only a few gemstones that come in one specific color, and its color can range from yellowish green to olive and even to a brownish green.

These gorgeous handmade earrings have three different stones woven onto the sterling silver frames: peridot, prehnite and spessartite garnets. You will find more pictures and information about the Precious Olivine earrings by clicking on the link listed below. Thank you for looking!
