What a busy new year!!!!

Things have been very busy here and even though this is late, I still would like to wish everyone a happy new year!

My family and I made the trip to Ohio again this year to spend the holidays with family, and I have to say that it was a very eventful trip! Beginning with spending six hours on the interstate sitting totally still because of ice on the roads in Kentucky. When we left home, it was overcast and mild. Bad weather was forecast for Northern Ohio, so we planned on only going half way to Cincinnati. Little did we know that the roads would soon turn icy just a few hours north of us. What a trip! What should have taken four hours, took us eleven hours!

The next days travel was not as eventful, a few traffic jams but not the complete stand still we experienced the day before! We were pleasantly surprised to see a bit of snow as we came closer to my hometown. The clouds hung heavy in the sky, and looked like we see a little bit more of the white stuff falling!



Christmas day was a peaceful day spent opening presents, making and eating all kinds of delicious foods and just enjoying a quiet day playing with all our new toys!


On the day we were set to leave we awoke to see a fresh dusting of snow. Since this is something my boys don't see a lot of here in Tennessee, we decided to stay one more day and let them play in the snow! They enjoyed shoveling the driveway and sidewalks, building snowmen and throwing snowballs at each other!



The trip home was much easier, no snow or ice on the roads at all! Whew!

Speaking of new toys...I just had to share a picture of my new workbench that my sweet husband got for me for Christmas! He put a catalog picture in an envelope and gave it to me on Christmas morning! Yesterday, he put it together for me, and it was totally worth the wait! I have looked at this workbench in the catalog for a very long time! I have to say, it makes me feel very blessed to have such a thoughtful husband.....and I am so excited to finally have an official place to store my tools and supplies! I'm looking forward to spending time at this workbench dreaming up new jewelry designs and making them come to life!

The Jupiter Necklace

This wonderful picture jasper stone reminds me of the planet Jupiter with all its swirling storms! With gorgeous autumn colors of rust, brown, tan, and black that move across the stone in unique fashion, making it a truly one of a kind piece of jewelry!

The pendant has a woven wire bale made of copper wire, done in the Eni Oken style, and at the bottom you will find a swirl of copper too! Including the bale, the picture jasper pendant is 2-1/8 inches in length and 1 inch wide. It is strung on a simple 2mm black leather cord necklace that is 17-1/2 inches long and has handmade copper findings.

A Copper and Agate Wire Wrapped Ring

A beautiful teal green 8mm agate round bead is surrounded in swirls of smooth and wrapped copper wire that are reminiscent of the waves and winds at the seashore!

A Wire Wrapped Rhodonite Ring

The latest trend in jewelry is one very bold ring on your index or middle finger, and this ring definitely fits that description! It's big and bold with very unique and elegant details!

The focal stone is an absolutely gorgeous rhodonite cabochon oval that has many beautiful shades of pink, and just a few dots of black for contrast. Copper is a very important metal that has been used for over 5000 years. It is very malleable, and is a good conductor of heat and electricity second only to silver in electrical conductivity. Its alloys are brass and bronze; Monel and gunmetal also have copper in them. Large copper ore deposits are found in the United States, Canada, Chile, Peru, Zaire, and Zambia. (Did you know that you were going to get a science and geography lesson today?)

This handsome copper bangle bracelet has lots twists and turns with the main focal point being an awesome ceramic copper bead! Inspired by Inna Zhukova of Belarus who won a silver medal for Rhythmic Gymnastics during the 2008 Summer Olympics!

I love to watch the Olympics and the gymnastics events always hold my interest! I have always been amazed with the rhythmic gymnastics style; the routines are so elegant and graceful! Inna’s performance this summer was awesome and as I watched this design came to mind!

This necklace starts with a sterling silver circle (like the hoop she used in one program), it is wrapped in many feet of very fine sterling silver wire! I attached wire wrapped sterling loops, which look so much like the ribbons used in the rhythmic gymnastics! Then I added several different semi-precious stones: a gorgeous pink amethyst, 3mm garnet rounds, pink pearl rondelles, and almondine garnets, they remind me of the lovely leotards that are worn by the gymnasts!

This beautiful pendant is on an 18-inch sterling silver rolo chain and you will find it for sale in my Etsy shop!

Organic Olives

As artists, often we have "happy accidents" when making something! Originally, I started out making a simple pair of wire earrings but they did not turn out as they were intended too. So, not being pleased with the original results, I decided to embellish them with my hammer! I like the organic look that the copper took on with just a few taps of my chasing hammer! Hence, another "happy accident"!

These graceful earrings are made with natural copper wire, not a coated craft wire. Because there is not a sealer on the metal, their patina will change over time to an even darker, antiqued finish. They are 2-1/4 of an inch in length; the dangles are 1-1/2 inches long, swinging from handmade copper earwires. The 6mm olivine glass bead is faceted, and coordinates well with the copper wire!

Knoxville Farmers Market!!!

Come and see me at the Farmers Market in Market Square, downtown Knoxville, TN!
