The Jupiter Necklace

This wonderful picture jasper stone reminds me of the planet Jupiter with all its swirling storms! With gorgeous autumn colors of rust, brown, tan, and black that move across the stone in unique fashion, making it a truly one of a kind piece of jewelry!

The pendant has a woven wire bale made of copper wire, done in the Eni Oken style, and at the bottom you will find a swirl of copper too! Including the bale, the picture jasper pendant is 2-1/8 inches in length and 1 inch wide. It is strung on a simple 2mm black leather cord necklace that is 17-1/2 inches long and has handmade copper findings.

A Copper and Agate Wire Wrapped Ring

A beautiful teal green 8mm agate round bead is surrounded in swirls of smooth and wrapped copper wire that are reminiscent of the waves and winds at the seashore!

This unique ring is very bold in design that has a three-wire shank wrapped in very fine copper wire, sturdy enough for everyday wear! Wrapped in non-tarnish copper wire, the patina will deepen slightly with wear but will not loose its beautiful copper color! If you prefer your copper jewelry to remain bright, you can clean it by gently rubbing a mixture of lemon juice and salt on it with a soft cloth!

A Wire Wrapped Rhodonite Ring

The latest trend in jewelry is one very bold ring on your index or middle finger, and this ring definitely fits that description! It's big and bold with very unique and elegant details!

The focal stone is an absolutely gorgeous rhodonite cabochon oval that has many beautiful shades of pink, and just a few dots of black for contrast. The stone is surrounded by four wire wrapped swirls made of sterling silver and in between the swirls you will find plenty of 2mm faceted sterling silver beads for sparkle! With all these unique details, the top of the ring a bold 23mm by 18mm!

Into the Whirlpool

A Copper Wire Wrapped Bangle Bracelet

Copper is a very important metal that has been used for over 5000 years. It is very malleable, and is a good conductor of heat and electricity second only to silver in electrical conductivity. Its alloys are brass and bronze; Monel and gunmetal also have copper in them. Large copper ore deposits are found in the United States, Canada, Chile, Peru, Zaire, and Zambia. (Did you know that you were going to get a science and geography lesson today?)

This handsome copper bangle bracelet has lots twists and turns with the main focal point being an awesome ceramic copper bead! There are also two amber glass beads that coordinate perfectly with the copper wire! It is a 7-3/4 inch bracelet that will fit comfortably on a 6-1/2 to 7-1/2 inch wrist. The Octopus

A unique wire wrapped copper ring that will wrap itself around your finger like the tentacles of an octopus!

This gorgeous ring has a sturdy three wire base, that is ring is wrapped with yards of very fine copper wire and is strong enough to stand up to everyday wear! The natural copper wire will only change color slightly with wear because of a protective coating on the wire! You can clean your copper jewelry by mixing lemon juice and salt together to make a paste and rub gently to remove tarnish.

Inspired by Inna Zhukova of Belarus who won a silver medal for Rhythmic Gymnastics during the 2008 Summer Olympics!

I love to watch the Olympics and the gymnastics events always hold my interest! I have always been amazed with the rhythmic gymnastics style; the routines are so elegant and graceful! Inna’s performance this summer was awesome and as I watched this design came to mind!

This necklace starts with a sterling silver circle (like the hoop she used in one program), it is wrapped in many feet of very fine sterling silver wire! I attached wire wrapped sterling loops, which look so much like the ribbons used in the rhythmic gymnastics! Then I added several different semi-precious stones: a gorgeous pink amethyst, 3mm garnet rounds, pink pearl rondelles, and almondine garnets, they remind me of the lovely leotards that are worn by the gymnasts!

This beautiful pendant is on an 18-inch sterling silver rolo chain and you will find it for sale in my Etsy shop!

Organic Olives

As artists, often we have "happy accidents" when making something! Originally, I started out making a simple pair of wire earrings but they did not turn out as they were intended too. So, not being pleased with the original results, I decided to embellish them with my hammer! I like the organic look that the copper took on with just a few taps of my chasing hammer! Hence, another "happy accident"!

These graceful earrings are made with natural copper wire, not a coated craft wire. Because there is not a sealer on the metal, their patina will change over time to an even darker, antiqued finish. They are 2-1/4 of an inch in length; the dangles are 1-1/2 inches long, swinging from handmade copper earwires. The 6mm olivine glass bead is faceted, and coordinates well with the copper wire!

Look Up!!!

Did you know that snakes can climb trees?!? I had never really thought about it before until my oldest son pointed out to us that this black snake was climbing the tree in our backyard! The snake was heading for a summer tanger nest on that branch to eat the eggs!

Needless to say, he didn't get eggs for lunch that day thanks to all of us! We used the garden hose and a long painters pole to get him out of the tree and sent him off to the woods to find something else to eat! I think the summer tangers were grateful, because we have seen them all around our house since then!

Knoxville Farmers Market!!!

Come and see me at the Farmers Market in Market Square, downtown Knoxville, TN! Simple Pleasures!

There is something so pleasing about hanging the wash out to dry! It brings back happy memories of my childhood when my mom used to hang her own laundry out in the summer months. I can remember the wonderful smell of bed sheets that had been dried outside! I would run in and out of those wet sheets that were just hung out just to feel their wet coolness! Now my clever husband has built me my very own clothesline so I can hang out my own laundry! It makes me smile to think I'll be able to share some of these same memories with my own children!

Hey, Hollywood!!!

Yahoo, I'm going to be on TV today! Last Wednesday, when I did my first Farmers Market, Michelle Silva from WBIR, channel 10 here in Knoxville, came by and interviewed all the vendors there! I just found out this afternoon that they will air the interview today at 4:00 p.m.! This is so exciting! Hope I don't look to silly, it was such a warm day, so most of my makeup had worn off so I did a quick dusting of powder and a swipe of the lipstick!

Today is a day full of emotions for me as I end a chapter in my life and start a new one. This was my last day as a pre-school teacher and the beginning of being totally self-employed. I have been with this parent's day out program for the last five years of my life, and it has been wonderful in more ways than I can count!


This school year was very special because I was blessed to have nine sweet little boys in my class who made me laugh and see the world through the eyes of a toddler again! My teaching partner and friend Judy taught me how to be even more patient with little ones, and how to have grace during life's most difficult moments.


So as I start this new chapter in my life, I look back and smile at many happy memories, and I look forward to the many challenges of being self-employed! My life has been forever changed by my time spent as a pre-school teacher and I am so grateful that God gave me that opportunity to be one!

May Apples are all over the woods around our home! The plant is a large single leaf that is almost 10 inches across, and I've heard that they produce some kind of fruit too! I will have to post a picture of that when I find some!

It's An Invasion!!!!!!

It's time for the invasion of the 17 year locust in our area! You know, the UGLY red eyed things that make lots of noise and can't fly very well! Two days ago, my youngest son came running to me with a hat full of the nasty skins they shed saying, "Look Mom! There must be thousands of them!" Eeewww, was all I could say!!!!! We went out to look at our trees in the front yard, there were hundreds of the skins all over them!

This bug tried to fly away, but ended up crashing to the ground about 3 feet away! No wonder the local animals eat them! When they are done shedding their old skin, they dry off and crawl up into the trees, and lay their eggs in the tree branches! Sometime later this summer, after the eggs hatch, those babies will chew through the branches and they will fall to the ground! Then the larva will leave the branch and dig into the ground where they will live for the next 17 years until it's time for them to reproduce!













This one is coming out of it's shell! Looks like a creepy monster you'd see in a horror movie! LOL!

Custom Order for Angela!!!!

Cool mint green faceted Czech beads with a silver coating on one side looks so awesome with the sterling silver boxes in these two special order items! Recently, I had made a pair of earrings with these same beads for my friend Angela. She loved the earrings so much, that she went and bought more of the "boxes" for a bracelet! After completing the bracelet I had one box left and used some of the left over beads to make a matching pendant!

I love how they all turned out, and so did Angela!
